The Mission

The mission of Brooks & Company Dance is to educate and entertain audiences through performance of choreographic works influenced by dance and cultural history, current political and social climates, and the pure joy of movement.

We achieve our mission with the following objectives:

Reinterpret canonized works of art (i.e. ballet, music, literature, theater, opera and poetry) in a contemporary context through the medium of modern dance, often linking multiple disciplines.

Enrich the quality of life by sharing the physiological and psychological benefits of modern dance movements and principles with people with Parkinson's Disease.

Bring company repertory into schools to demonstrate the relevancy of academic curriculum through live performance.

Cultivate audience interest in and attendance at modern dance through the presentation of themes familiar to the common human experience.

Broaden the techniques of classically-trained dancers to learn, build upon and expand on contemporary styles of dance.

Feature the work and philosophy of choreographer Joanna Brooks, and other choreographer's works that are consistent with the objectives of the company.
